Outlet #2: Twitter Love & Roll-call

Reflecting on last night’s get-together, I’m wowed by what an evolution of communication Twitter is. In organizing Outlet, we’ve probably put in no more than a single hour of time for any given event, yet each time, more people show up. One or two tweets a day for the week preceding the event is enough. I think Twitter is a fantastic medium for making real connections, so if you aren’t using it yet, sign up for an account, and see what you think.

To facilitate keeping in touch, @samtaters suggested making a list of Twitter handles of everyone who came to Outlet last night. The nametags were small, and it’s hard to remember a lot of names after a beer or ten, so I think it’s a great idea.

As such, here are the people I know who were there, off the top of my head:

Outlet #1A – Venimus, Vidimus, Vicimus

Many thanks to all the wonderful folks who came to Outlet #1A last night! Personally, I met a lot of interesting and talented people, and I even learned a thing or two. I don’t think anyone took pictures, because it wasn’t that kind of party, but if I’m wrong – please feel free to correct me in the comments.

We think about boxes

We like to consider ourselves creative over here at Outlet HQ, so here’s a truly innovative solution to our current dilemma: we’re going to have Outlet tonight AND we’re going to postpone.

The postpone crowd pulled ahead in our poll, but I didn’t want to leave anyone out in the cold (nice pun, huh?) so I put on my thinking cap. My goodness, the number of mixed metaphors in that sentence is just astounding. Neal is probably hanging his head in shame at my copywriting.

This evening will be Outlet #1A from 6-8pm for drink specials, 8pm on for socializing, and February 11th will be Outlet #1 for real.

Outlet is about community and connection, not head counts, so if you’re a hardy soul, come on by Rocket to Venus tonight, and enjoy the company! If you can’t make it, there will be another in two short weeks. And of course, Ignite is next week too!
